Top Tips for Staying Healthy Over the Festive Period

December can actually be a great time to de-stress, get fit and stay in shape. Use these top tips to stay on top your game and keep your health and weight in check through the holiday period.

Another year is drawing to an end and The Pure Package’s elves will be busy hibernating and eating of lots food. We like to call this research and in truth it is.

Our last delivery for 2012 will be on Friday 21st December and our deliveries restart on Thursday 3rd January 2013.

The holiday season doesn’t have to be a time where you let it all go and your health (and waistline) heads south. Follow our recommendations to stay healthy and active over the holiday period.

1. Food & Nutrition

Try to make healthier food choices this Christmas. It’s easy to get carried away with all the puddings, chocolates, shortbread and party food that are available in abundance. We’re not expecting you to resist completely, just remember everything in moderation.

2. Water

Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated. If you do drink alcohol, remember to alternate every alcoholic drink with a glass of water and don’t drink on an empty stomach. Have a healthy snack before you go to a party as it will help prevent you from snacking on unhealthy party food. Dandelion tea is a great herbal tea to drink throughout the days when you know you’re going to be out and about, partying and drinking alcohol at night, as it helps to detoxify the liver.

3. Exercise

Remember to keep up with your exercise routine. Just because you were out and about the night before is no excuse to sleep in and forego your workout. Staying active will help you feel better. Don your snug winter coat, scarf and gloves and head outdoors to one of London’s many beautiful parks and Christmas markets for a brisk and refreshing walk. Not only is it good for stretching your legs but your body also burns off more calories in the cold trying to keep itself warm. It’s a great way to help work off those Quality Streets and mince pies that are very hard to resist.

4. Relaxation

As much as Christmas is a lovely time to catch up with your friends and family, don’t forget to take some time out for YOU. We’re conditioned to think that Christmas is all about giving, so how about taking the time to give to yourself as well this year. Don’t get stressed out over Christmas present buying. Plan your shopping in advance, write a list of all the presents you need to buy and avoid the frenzied crowds. Or just buy our new luxury gift hamper and that’s your shopping done!

5. Sleep

Get plenty of rest and aim for 7-8 hours of sleep every night. It’s not going to make or break your life if you don’t go to EVERY party. How about having a night in? Create a relaxing spa experience at home, snuggle up on the couch with a good book or DVD and get to bed early.

If you really just want to let go and really enjoy all the festivities, then why not enjoy them guilt free! Book either our Detox & Cleanse Programme or Weight Loss Programme now to start in January. There is no better way to kick-start your New Year after the indulgent season!
