Here at The Pure Package, we always find London Fashion Week interesting, especially as we were involved this year! As such, it seemed like the right thing to do to summarise what happened at the much anticipated autumn/winter 2011 show, and to speak about a few of the designers and celebs.

This year’s autumn/winter collections premiered in the neo-classical surrounds of Somerset House. Over 150 designer brands showcased their collections, with the exhibition featuring an astounding 60 new labels. The must-sees included Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Vivienne Westwood and Julien MacDonald. Amongst the line-up was British-based label Issa, which has been enjoying increased attention after Kate Middleton wore one of their gowns to announce her engagement to Prince William. There was a lot of excitement to be had as Tom Ford also made an appearance when the American designer showed his womenswear collection for the first time in London.

Anna Wintour, the US editor-in-chief of American Vogue who inspired “The Devil Wears Prada”, headed up a team of six who were seen enjoying the playful 101 Dalmatians-themed Topshop show. Also flying in from the US were actresses Kate Bosworth and Rachel Bilson who were seen front row at Burberry Porsum with Mario Testino. Kirsten Dunst, Olivia Palermo, Clemence Poesy and Pixie Geldof were all spotted at the enchanted Mulberry show.

Elsewhere on the fashion circuit, the prime minister’s wife, Samantha Cameron, became the first lady of UK fashion by hosting a reception at Downing Street for London Fashion Week. The exclusive guest list included Claudia Schiffer in Roksanda and bride-to-be Kate Moss, looking immaculate working the current all-black trend accented by fuchsia pink lips. Samantha flew the flag for British designers in a Christopher Kane skirt. She had earlier been on the front row at Holly Fulton’s and David Koma’s catwalk shows, as well the latest collection of one of her personal favourites, Erdem.

As you probably know (we are not shy of talking about it), The Pure Package supported this year’s LFW by supplying healthy meals backstage to models at Mary Katrantzou, Julien MacDonald and Matthew Williamson’s catwalk shows.
Jennifer Irvine and everyone at The Pure Package hopes this involvement will further encourage the current trend towards healthy and sustainable weight loss and weight maintenance. We are working with the London Fashion Council more and more which really is a sign of positive change to an industry which is renowned for unhealthy, size zero models appearing on the catwalk.
